My research aims at advancing organic synthetic methods with organolithium and lanthanide(II) reagents.
Synthetic organic chemistry is a powerful tool for creating complex molecules for use in e.g. materials or as biological active compounds in pharmaceuticals. Our research aims at developing new methodology for efficient organic synthesis and the research effort is directed into two important classes of organic reagents, the alkaliorganic reagents and the lanthanide(II) reagents. The goal of the work is to deepen our understanding of these reagents and thus improve and extend their chemistry, as well as to discover new reactions of value for synthetic chemistry. A central goal is to develop chemo- and stereoselective reductions and carbon-carbon (C-C) bond forming reactions. Physical organic studies are central in our research since the knowledge about the structures and reaction mechanisms are prerequisites for rational development of new chemical reactions.
