Doctoral studies

A third level education will give you a deeper knowledge of your subject and the tools to independently formulate problems and critically judge the results.

A third level education involves four years of study. The training usually includes a certain amount of teaching, which often makes the real time five years.

Entrance requirements

To meet the general requirements for admission to third-cycle education, applicants must have:

• been awarded a second-cycle degree, or
• completed course requirements for at least 240 credits, including 60 credits awarded in the second cycle, or
• acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

You must also:

• meet the specific entrance requirements for the position.

Admission

Admission to third-cycle studies is decided by the Faculty Board.

Announcement

The announcement of a postgraduate position is posted on the University website. Positions are published when they are available. Entrance requirements and the last date for application are specified in the announcement.
